X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST mastermind Bryan Singer opened up to IGN about his “epic” film, which joins both casts of the X-Men film franchise. The director talks about negotiating with a returning cast member, exploring new characters and describes the time traveling element.
Singer agreed that he’s on the same page as the fans who want to see Jean and Cyclops return, saying “who wouldn’t” want to see them? He also says he’s negotiation with a returning cast member and that there will be new, younger roles. “There’s another person that we’re negotiating with right now, so hopefully that will work out and they’ll be a part of the movie as well. And there are some new roles, younger roles that will appear in the movie.”
On the time traveling element in the film, Singer says “The movie takes place at different times. It deals with, I don’t want to say time travel, but time displacement. A form of time travel which is steeped more in the X-Men [mythos].” That will allow him to “repair a few things” that took place in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.
He wants to explore to various sides of the X-Men universe, creating a shared universe, saying “I think that if you really examine the X-Men universe it’s every bit as big as the Marvel universe. There are lesser characters, but if you take certain characters there are a myriad of films you could make, and stories you could tell, with these characters as individuals. Wolverine being one of them, and that’s currently being done. But you could really mine this universe. I’m glad to return to it and I’d like to get more involved in it because it hasn’t really been orchestrated – somewhat with the Wolverine pictures – but I think there is a lot more that one can do.
It sucks because we’re not sure if the returning cast member is from the original trilogy or First Class! I want it to be Storm!!! I’d love Jean or Cyclops over storm, but theyre dead……….He’s also basically saying there is only returning cast member left to announce huh? Who do y’all think the new young characters are? We need more girls 3 isn’t enough. This movie is cockfest! I’d be happy with Halle/Storm as the returning actor/character and some youn boy and girl as Cyclops and Jean.

If he’s negotiating then it means it isn’t a “First Class” actor, because they’re already under contract to return, if needed. The wording of his quote suggests it’s a returning cast member, since he begins his next sentence with “And there are some new roles…”
That’s what I am hoping as well 😊 and now that you’ve put it that way it definitely has to be Halle, especially since she has things going on in her personal life (moving to Europe with her family permanently) it might be difficult to get her, hence the “negotiating”. Also, all these media outlets are reporting he’s in negotiations with an actor, which makes it seem like a guy. When in reality he doesn’t state actor or actress. I really wonder who the new young characters will be. As much I’d love it to be Jean and Scott the age wouldn’t make sense. That would mean they would have been 40 in the first film and they looked like they were in their early 30′s/ late 20′s. Unless the whole time jumping changes their ages as well, or by the end of the movie it’s set in the 80′s and leaves it open for a third film that will introduce those characters.
When I read the interview I understood that Singer was meaning a new actor joining the sequel, like Peter D. Not a returning actor. Maybe for Nixon?

I don’t miss Scott, couldn’t care for him less… but whatever, I know he has his fans… I would probably skip a Scott Summers centered film in cinemas. As for Jean… hell yeah. Famke rocked and I really would appreciate her return.
both of the actor played by Jean, Scott and Storm really rocks..it would be not cool at all if they will recast them.. that would be a big mess in the movie.. and it will confused some of the non-x-men fans at all..
If he goes for a young Jean and Scott, then the “First Class” team will be super close to the original. I’m hoping this is the case
I’m hoping the returning actor is in fact Storm. Also that the young roles are going to cyclops, Jean, and maybe a young Storm. Xavier did say in the first movie that they were among the first of his students. Fingers crossed!
Im fine with the return of original Cyclops, Jean and Storm.. that would be a blast.. but if they prefer the younger one of them.. then they should do it and be part of first class…
I have no really problem with that at all.. but still I want to see the original cast together.. that sounds epic to me.. and that part that the movie will explains about the events in X3: the last stand. it sound interesting..

Yes I do want to see Halle back as Storm as well. I want to make that clear lol… I’m sure by now we all know this
