Early GAMBIT plot rumors: Mr. Sinister, Dani Moonstar, Multiple Man and Marrow as supporting characters.

Splash Report allegedly came upon story details for the long-developing GAMBIT film. Going by the information provided here, it appears to come from earlier versions of the film’s script (there have been many) that might be scrapped all-together. Star Channing Tatum previously mentioned that they were “sort of starting over” with the screenplay after a couple directors dropped out and after seeing the potential from films like DEADPOOL and LOGAN.

Below are a few interesting tidbits noted in the article. To read the full, much more detailed description, click here.

*Remy Lebeau (Channing Tatum) is on trial in New-Orleans. He’s considered a huge security risk.

*25 years before, master thief Luke Lebeau runs into eight-year-old Gambit while doing a heist. Impressed by his skills, he offers to take the mutant orphan under his wings.

*10 years later; Gambit is hired to do a job in Paris to steal something from the Louvre Museum. It was apparently a test job to see if he still has it. His mysterious employer is revealed to be Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister.

*New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations is used as a cover. Gambit decides to enlist a crew of mutants to pull off a seemingly impossible heist.

*It’s the Ocean’s 11 of the comic book genre. The big heist is reminiscent of the Ocean franchise except Gambit’s crew are all mutants.

*The story is tied into the X-Men universe because it mentions the events of Days of Future Past and Apocalypse. The Boudreaux clan hires a few mutants (Rictor, Fifolet) to protect themselves.

*Gambit recruits Dani Moonstar, Jamie Madrox (Multiple man) for his heist. Marrow also has a significant role in the story. We also get a cool cameo from a blue X-Men regular. Nathaniel Essex is a huge part of the story.

“Gambit” is likely due in theaters in 2019 or 2020.

  1. I really don’t think Gambit is happening. Plots ok, but he’s the type of character that needs other popular mutants as costars in order to be successful. By himself, he’s not interesting enough.
