“Storm” actress Alexandra Shipp won fans over with her portrayal of the mutant weather goddess in “X-Men: Apocalypse” and is returning for next year’s X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX saga. Shipp recently spoke with SyFy about what fans can expect from director/writer Simon Kinberg’s next installment in the film series.
“It’s definitely a darker world,” she says. “A lot more is going on at this point. I can’t say too much, but what I can say is that, as a fan of the X-Men franchise, I know a lot of people are going to be happy with how accurate this one is.”
That’s music to fans ears, as many are wondering how closely Kinberg to stick to the source material, which involves Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) losing control of her powers and being the center of an intergalactic war.
Shipp thinks the script “stays true” to what X-Men fans are wanting out of these films, saying “Now that [Kinberg] has a little more control, he is able to really allow this X-Men world to flourish.”
Winning the role of Storm is a dream come true for her, as she revealed that, “[As a kid,] I liked dressing up as her. I liked pretending I had powers. I like pretending I have powers now!”
“Dark Phoenix” flies into theaters on November 2, 2018.
