- A contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, FANTASTIC FOUR centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. Directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) and written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past), the film stars Miles Teller (Whiplash) as Reed Richards, Kate Mara (House of Cards) as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as Johnny Storm, Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer) as Ben Grimm and Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Victor von Doom.
Reed Richards is a young scientific prodigy who has been quietly exploring the universe’s deepest mysteries in his garage with his best friend, Ben Grimm. Though they’re total opposites, they work well as a team duo and respects the talents of each other. While showing off Reed’s history-making experiment at a science fair, they’re approached by Dr. Franklin Storm and his daughter, Sue. He’s offered a full scholarship to Storm’s award-winning laboratory held at the esteemed Baxter building. Using his advanced knowledge, Reed, along with Sue Storm and and an angsty Victor von Doom, use their brilliant minds to create the Quantum Gate. Upon traveling to Planet Zero, he’s transformed by his experiment and finds that he can warp the space around him, stretching his body into impossible forms and incredible lengths.
Sue Storm is brilliant, independent, and has a dry wit sense of humor. She was born in Kosovo – which later declared its independence from Serbia – and is the adopted daughter of well-renowned scientist Dr. Franklin Storm. Sue is head designer and creator of the environmental suits worn by inhabitants of the inter-dimensional traveling “Quantum Gate.” When the first unexpected trip to Planet Zero goes awry, she is hit by a body-altering field of energy, which allows her to become invisible and generate force-fields, making her harder to reach than ever. But that won’t stop some of her teammates, especially Reed Richards, from trying.
A troublemaker and a thrill-seeker, Johnny Storm totals his car during a street race and receives a verbal lashing from his father, Dr. Franklin Storm. He’s told to work on the Quantum Gate project, using his advanced knowledge of mechanics and wielding. Johnny, along with his adopted sister Sue Storm, are affected by the events on Planet Zero. Now Johnny is the rock star of the team. His powers allow him to shoot fireballs, fly at breakneck speeds, stop air missiles with little effort, and really light it up.
A rare breed of brawn and heart, Ben is warm, even sensitive, despite his rough-and-tumble upbringing. His older brother used to beat him up after saying “it’s clobering time,” leading to him owning that quote as the man who’s rock solid in more ways than one. He’s a loyal and protective friend to Reed Richards, he takes a chance and decides to join him on the first live human trip to the mysterious Planet Zero, leading to a dramatic life-changing event. His stone body gives him epic strength, speed and makes him virtually indestructible. He’s able to lift a tank with ease, can punch through a tree, and drop from insane heights, without lasting damage.
Victor Von Doom is brilliant computer technician and computer scientist, who was previously a mentee of Dr. Franklin Storm. After Reed Richard’s breakthrough discovery, Doom is urged by Dr. Storm to help him and his team create a “quantum gate” for inter-dimensional travel. Doom is forever changed after his first trip to the newly-discovered “Planet Zero.” Angry and vengeful, he places Earth at risk by activating a destructive portal between the two worlds.
