Bleeding Cool<\/a> — As previously revealed, producer Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel consultant Mark Millar are developing an X-FORCE<\/a> movie at 20th Century Fox. Attached is writer\/director Jeff Wadlow<\/strong> (Kick Ass 2), who is currently working on the film’s screenplay. Wadlow opens up about the exciting project and reveals how it will fit into the existing “X-Men” universe:<\/p>\n “I\u2019m very deep into it.” says Wadlow. “I can\u2019t really say much as Fox has asked me not to but, again, it\u2019s not a reboot or re-imagining of the X cinematic universe. Tonally it will fit in, quite well with all the other movies\u2026 but then I think the other movies cover a wide range of tones. It\u2019s certainly not going to be tonally similar to Kick-Ass.<\/p>\n “I hope it will have what fans of X-Force will expect. I think it will be a little edgier, I think you\u2019ll see some characters with different takes on what it means to be a mutant. There will be some grey areas that the movies haven\u2019t yet been explored. It won\u2019t be as \u201covert.\u201d This movie is more about the grey areas in between.<\/p>\n “I\u2019m going to take some big ideas from the X-universe and flip them, I think in an interesting way. It\u2019s hard to talk about that, though, without being specific. I probably shouldn\u2019t have even talked about that at all because I can\u2019t get into the specifics but I will say it\u2019s similar to Kick-Ass 2 in that it wasn\u2019t an open assignment, it wasn\u2019t \u201cWe\u2019re going to make an X-Force movie, who\u2019s interested? Here\u2019s what the movie\u2019s going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n “When Mark [Millar] got the job with Fox I said \u201cThe first movie you guys should make is an X-Force movie and here\u2019s how you should do it.\u201d And that got him excited, and that got the studio excited and that\u2019s the movie I\u2019m writing.”<\/p>\n
