comics, The New Mutants were teenaged students of Professor Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, much like the original X-Men, who had since grown into adulthood. The original series highlighted interpersonal and group conflict as well as action and adventure, and featured a large ensemble cast, including the introduction of cult figure Deadpool and Cable. With the end of the first series, the characters were relaunched as X-Force in a new, eponymous series.

“We’re so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters,” said Kinberg.

‘New Mutants’ is a project that Shuler Donner has wanted to make since the early X-Men films, so it’s exciting to see it finally get off the ground.

No theatrical release date has been given, though Fox has a mysterious July 13, 2018 date that is still unclaimed.
