Fox’s upcoming Marvel TV drama GIFTED<\/a>, which is based in the X-Men universe has cast Amy Acker<\/strong> (Person of Interest, Angel) as its female lead, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n She will play Kate Stewart, “a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband, Reed (Stephen Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks.”<\/p>\n Also joining the cast are Emma Dumont<\/strong> (Aquarius, Pretty Little Liars) as Lorna Dane aka Polaris<\/a>, a major character comic book fans know as Magneto’s daughter, who can also manipulate magnetism. She’s described as a “strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant.”<\/p>\n Percy Hynes White<\/strong> (Night at the Museum) will portray Andy, a “sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.”<\/p>\n The action-adventure pilot, directed by X-Men film veteran Bryan Singer, focuses on two ordinary parents (Moyer, Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.<\/p>\n Additional cast includes Natalie Alyn Lind<\/strong><\/a> as Lauren, Blair Redford<\/a><\/strong> as Sam , Jamie Chung<\/a><\/strong> as Clarice Ferguson aka Blink and Sean Teale<\/a><\/strong> as Marcos Diaz aka Eclipse.<\/p>\n Matt Nix (Burn Notice) serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer, alongside Singer, longtime X-Men film producers Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. 20th Century Fox Television will produce with Marvel.<\/p>\n Filming on the pilot is expected to begin this month.<\/p>\n
