Why did legendary composer Hans Zimmer<\/strong> decide to create a score for director Simon Kinberg’s DARK PHOENIX<\/a><\/strong> film? The musician had previously went on record saying that he was done composing music for the superhero film genre. Thanks to Collider<\/a><\/strong>, we have an answer. The site sat down with the icon to discuss a variety of topics, one being 20th Century Fox’s upcoming X-Men film.<\/p>\n

“I had lost my voice,” he said. “I didn’t have any new ideas. I don’t ever want to phone it in. I don’t ever want to not have an idea, and I just made some sort of stupid blanket statement and Ron Howard, who I really consider a man of great wisdom and [a] great friend, quietly said to me, ‘Y’know Hans, you should never say no. You should go, I’m waiting for [a] great story. Because the genre doesn’t matter, you want a great story.’ So Simon turned up in Montreal with the whole cast and crew and everybody for one of the shows, and we just had a chat about what he wanted to do. I did have an idea of something I always wanted to try and it just so happens that it seems to fit into that sort of a movie. I’m not telling you what it is, because I don’t know if it’s actually going to work [or not].”<\/p>\n

Zimmer is known for his award-winning works on such films as Dunkirk<\/em>, Interstellar<\/em>, The Lion King<\/em>, Inception<\/em>, Gladiator<\/em> and The Thin Red Line<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Dark Phoenix<\/em> flies into theaters on June 7, 2019.<\/p>\n
