Josh Wilding over at ComicBookMovie.com recently had a chat with DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS costume designer Graham Churchyard about Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor Charles Xavier. Discussing the character’s iconic yellow/gold hover chair, Churchyard reveals where the visual idea came from.

“That was straight from Kevin [Feige],” he said. “In his youth, he watched the 90s animation and said, ‘We want to do, instead of the wheelchair, the yellow [one].’ That’s in the animation, as you know, and so is the green suit. I sent Kevin pictures of Sir Patrick’s fitting and he was just over the moon that we’d done the green suit and the striped tie exactly like the comic.”
