In a candid interview with Gold Derby, the actor opened up about his experience on the Marvel set, revealing just how isolating the production process was for him.

“I did the entire film in isolation,” Cumming said.” “Lots of green screen, face replacement. They even gave characters fake names. I don’t know who I was acting with half the time.” His comments pull back the curtain on the increasingly CGI-heavy world of filmmaking, especially in franchises like the MCU, where secrecy is almost a religion and even actors are kept in the dark about who or what they’re interacting with.

20th Century Studios

The actor’s honesty sparked immediate conversation online, with many weighing in on the implications of filming in such fragmented ways. Some saw it as a glimpse into the Marvel machine’s hyper-controlled secrecy protocols, while others expressed concern about how this might affect the craft of acting itself. Cumming even acknowledged the online stir: “I broke the internet by mentioning something once, but honestly, I might have got it wrong.”

While his comments may not have been meant to provoke controversy, they highlight a growing tension in Hollywood between storytelling and spectacle. As CGI and digital compositing become more central to filmmaking, some actors find themselves performing alone, on green screen stages, without full scripts or scene partners. For someone like Cumming, it’s no surprise that such an experience might feel strange.

Still, the actor’s humor and perspective remain intact. He didn’t slam the production or Marvel, but his remarks reveal the surreal, sometimes disconnected reality behind today’s biggest cinematic spectacles.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.

Source: Gold Derby

Entertainment Earth – Ad

Alan Cumming is no stranger to big franchises or eccentric roles, but his recent comments…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[579,60,15,97,90
608,408,299,378,251,224
post-76188","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-avengers-doomsday","category-casting","category-crew-talk","category-disney","category-x-men","tag-alan-cumming","tag-crew-talk","tag-marvel-studios","tag-nightcrawler","tag-the-super","tag-x-men
["GET
