{"id":9430,"date":"2012-02-16T16:42:04","date_gmt":"2012-02-16T21:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xmenfilms.wordpress.com\/?p=9430"},"modified":"2012-02-16T16:42:04","modified_gmt":"2012-02-16T21:42:04","slug":"writer-simon-kinberg-talks-x-men-first-class-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/x-menfilms.com\/?p=9430","title":{"rendered":"Writer Simon Kinberg talks X-Men: First Class 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/xmenfilms.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/x-men-first-class-2.jpg?resize=594%2C250\" alt=\"\" title=\"x-men first class 2\" width=\"594\" height=\"250\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9437\" \/><\/p>\n<p>X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2 writer and producer <strong>Simon Kinberg<\/strong> recently spoke with <a href=\"https:\/\/splashpage.mtv.com\/2012\/02\/16\/x-men-first-class-sequel-simon-kinberg-interview\/#more-60963\" target=\"_blank\">MTV<\/a> about the developing sequel which will continue the adventures of Charles Xavier, Magneto and mutants aplenty.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I don\u2019t know what the title is going to be but certainly I\u2019m working on the sequel to &#8216;X-Men: First Class&#8217; right now&#8221; said Kinberg. &#8220;I\u2019m a huge X-Men fan. I grew up loving the comic books and it was really exciting to be able to do the origin story of Xavier and Magneto, and getting those two actors, [James] McAvoy and [Michael] Fassbender, were really amazing,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So being able to explore those characters with actors of that quality will be exciting a second time around, and doing some things unexpected with those characters, which is the plan.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kinberg says there are definitely plans to further explore Magneto&#8217;s tortured beginnings:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;That\u2019s what was so cool about the first one and what we want to continue. Magneto becomes the villain ultimately of the franchise but he\u2019s a much more complicated character as a young man. He\u2019s someone you sympathize with, you care about you root for even though might not necessarily agree with his methods, you understand his philosophy.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At the end of the first film, Erik Lensherr donned his classic costume and announced himself as Magneto. Will the sequel make him a full-on baddie or a mix of both hero and villian?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We\u2019re still figuring that out.&#8221; Kinberg continues. &#8220;I think the truth is ultimately that because Michael is such an interesting actor, he\u2019ll never be full-on anything. He\u2019ll have a villainous side and he\u2019ll have a sympathetic human side you\u2019ll be able to relate but you\u2019ll also be afraid of him.
