Blu Hunt on watching THE NEW MUTANTS for the first time: “It was overwhelming.”

Speaking with Empire Magazine, actress Blu Hunt detailed how it was seeing herself portray Marvel’s Native American superhero, Dani Moonstar, on the big screen for the first time.

“I’m an indigenous superhero,” she said with a grin, while saying it’s “an honor” to play the role. “I’m not just in the background, to please people. I’m carrying the movie.” This is true, as we follow Dani as she’s introduced to this creepy “hospital” that houses new mutants.

“It was overwhelming,” said Hunt of seeing the finished film earlier this year. “I never thought I’d see myself in a movie, and the first shot is of my face! I was shaking in the theatre, but Maisie [Williams] grabbed me, like, ‘You’re good! It’s good!’”

The New Mutants is currently without a release date, as the film’s original April 3, 2020 date was pushed back due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation happening around the world. A majority of movie theater chains have closed amid health concerns.

Directed by Josh Boone and written by Knate Lee, the film follow five young mutants as they are locked inside a containment facility against their will. When they learn secrets about what’s terrorizing them, they join forces to escape the overwhelming horrors.
