Hollywood Reporter — THE WOLVERINE star Hugh Jackman recently called his iconic starring role as Wolverine “the backbone of my [movie] career” during 20th Century Fox International’s CineEurope presentation in Barcelona, Spain.
Soon to be playing the character for the sixth time, Jackman says that production on the James Mangold-directed film will begin in “about six weeks” and that he “believes there’s [a] great movie to be made that defines his character.”
The actor has been working out tirelessly in Barcelona gyms while filming “Les Miserables” to get in tip-top shape for the movie, which follows Wolverine as he treks to Japan and battles the Silver Samurai, among other baddies.
The film is slated for release on July 26, 2013, with a FIRST CLASS sequel following in July 18, 2014. Fox International co-presidents Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus excitingly described director Matthew Vaughn’s next effort as the “biggest” X-Men film yet!
