Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced the start of production for THE WOLVERINE after touring the sets being constructed with director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman. Filming officially begins next week at Fox Studios in Sydney for a July 26, 2013 release.
“It speaks to the incredible craftsmanship [here] that we can make so much of Japan, feudal Japan, urban Japan sets all here on our soundstages in Australia,” said Mangold.
“I’ve been working for 12 years on the Wolverine character” said Jackman, “and while the franchise will go well beyond me, it really has been the backbone of my career. This one has certainly been the most interesting and complex of the Superhero characters. When I saw the script and when Jim [Magnold] got on board I thought it was the best script and we had the chance to really make a definitive movie.”
