Hugh Jackman credits Russell Crowe for his iconic Wolverine role.

THE WOLVERINE star Hugh Jackman told Daily Star that he’s grateful to fellow Aussie actor, Russell Crowe for some of his major film roles, including that of Logan.

“Russell has given me advice several times at key moments in my life that helped with my career.” said Jackman. “[I] owe him because two of the biggest roles I’ve ever had in my life, he turned down − and suggested me for them. On X-MEN, he was Bryan Singer’s first choice for Wolverine […] He really is incredibly smart, and generous.”

Jackman just recently completed filming on Wolverine’s next outing, which focuses on him going to Japan and falling in love with a woman whose love comes with a deadly price. Releasing on July 26, 2013, the movie co-stars Hiroyuki Sanada as Shingen, Hal Yamanouchi as Yashida, Tao Okamoto as Mariko, Will Yun Lee as Silver Samurai, Rila Fukushima as Yukio, Brian Tee as Japan’s Minister of Justice, and Svetlana Khodchenkova as Victoria aka Viper.
