Embargoes were lifted from THE WOLVERINE set visits that took place early in the film’s production, and now many “new” interviews with the cast and crew have made their way online. Below are a few choice quotes from the likes of stars Hugh Jackman, Rila Fukushima, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Tao Okamoto, and director James Mangold.

Hugh Jacman (Wolverine) via Superhero Hype

“It definitely feels like a standalone movie in every way. I always hated the idea of saying “Wolverine 2.” I didn’t know what it was going to be called. It was the studio, I think, who came up with the idea of the title, and I was like, “Fantastic.” Because in a way, I knew that everybody, from studio down, was embracing this idea of this movie being different, and it needed to be.”

Rila Fukushima (Yukio) via Screenrant

“The crew people say it’s a really fun chemistry with me and Hugh. Sometimes we keep going, even if we’ve finished the scene. It’s funny. He gave me a lot of improv, so I physically hit back. It’s funny. It’s so much fun to work with him, it’s amazing.”

Svetlana Khodchenova (Viper) via Collider

“With my character, certainly she’s a villain, but for me to play the character I have to love the character. I have to realize why she’s doing what she’s doing, and obviously she has reasons for everything she does. I’m working a lot on that. I love the character.”

Tao Okamoto (Mariko) via Tokyo Weekender

“Mariko is a strong, independent girl. Her family is extremely wealthy and they want her to eventually to take over the running of their business, but she has other ideas. Then she meets Wolverine (Jackman) and the adventure begins.”

James Mangold (Director) via Entertainment Weekly

“[Jean Grey is a] shadow presence [in this film, and] pops up to mock, comfort and advise Logan, much as Number 6 tortured Gaius Baltar on ‘Battlestar Galactica'”

Update: Entertainment Weekly features a short video interview with Hugh Jackman, where he calls Wolverine “one of the first real antiheroes.”
