X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST stars Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier) and Ian McKellen (Magneto) spoke to The Wall Street Journal about returning to the world of X-Men, this time with their “younger selves” in the form of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Did the two vets change their roles to match that of their “First Class” co-stars? “No. It’s up to them to sync with us,” joked McKellen. Stewart agreed, “We came first.”
Though Magneto doesn’t interact with his young self, Xavier does, and Stewart says of the meeting “James and I come not just face-to-face, but nose-to-nose almost. When we shot that scene, it was James’s first day of work on the movie, and it was my last day. So I was saying goodbye to X-Men, and he was saying hello.”
