Longtime X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed to Total Film that Channing Tatum will play the role of Gambit in an upcoming film. Sources at The Hollywood Reporter say the character will be introduced in 2016
s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and the spin-off into his own solo GAMBIT film, which Shuler Donner has expressed interest in. Tatum made it no question that he wanted to play the character, last played by Taylor Kitsch, and after meeting with producers, his wish came true.
“He’s a rogue — Channing — he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action — we all know that! And he’s got a really good heart. He’ll be great for Gambit,” Shuler Donner added, “and he’s a Southerner, too! He’s not from New Orleans, but he is a Southerner, and he understands that world.”

I can totally see it working.
He sold me on it with his passion.
Though I foresee trouble with him being introduced in the eighties. It would seem to make the Gambit/Rogue romance an impossibility.
But then, I suppose they could fudge it a little, and retard his aging like they have with Magneto…???
But, I’m good with this. 🙂
Im ok with Channing Tatum as Gambit but IMO Gaspard Ulliel could have been a good choice for the role.
