With X-MEN: APOCALYPSE satisfying contractual obligations for stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, word comes from The Hollywood Reporter that the film will take full advantage of exploring Mystique and Magneto’s complicated relationship.
According to the site, “Apocalypse is being crafted around Lawrence’s Mystique character and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto. A source who has seen the script says Fox will take full advantage of Lawrence and Fassbender’s star power, placing Mystique and Magneto’s romance front and center.”
Casting is currently underway in London, with set construction beginning next month in Montreal. Filming commences mid-April for a May 27, 2016 theatrical release.
The film will follow a phenomenon of cataclysm events around the world, caused by an ancient, time-spanning mutant believed to be the first of his kind. Professor Xavier and his X-Men prepare for the war at hand, while mutants both familiar and new, lead new, sometimes drastically different destinies which may change the course of history.
I think this is HORRIBLE. I was really looking forward to seeing Mystique free from any male influence, and now she’s going to hook up again with the guy who tried to KILL her??? That sends a terrible message to girls and young women, which is basically, “It doesn’t matter if your boyfriend attempted to murder you, just go back to him.” I can only hope that this article is wrong, or someone on the writing staff will realize a Magneto/Mystique romance is a dreadful idea and remove it from the script.
Too bad you don’t like it, whiny bitcher. It is what is. There are many others who will see it and it will gross big in the box office as the prior two did.
