Rumors of actors auditioning for Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE ran rampant yesterday after alleged details by Latino Review placed multiple actors in the running for each respective role. Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jamie Blackley (If I Stay) and Tye Sheridan (Mud) are allegedly testing for Cyclops; Sophie Turner (Games of Thrones) and Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) for Jean Grey; Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) and singer/actress Zendaya Coleman (K.C. Undercover) for Storm.
Egerton, who already has a relationship with 20th Century Fox and X-Men director/writer/producer Matthew Vaughn through KINGSMAN, recently spoke on this rumor during a special film screening, saying “I really can’t comment on the Cyclops thing. I’m not really sure what’s going on there or where that [rumor] came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says that’s very fun. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops. So, I don’t know.”
With filming beginning this April in Montreal, fans won’t have to wait long to find out who won the roles originally played by James Marsden, Famke Janssen and Halle Berry.
