GAMBIT star Channing Tatum recently participated in a “Ask Me Anything” chat with fans on Reddit. The actor confirmed that he “definitely will not” appear in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, which doesn’t come as a big shock as he previously said: “I don’t think I want to introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is.”
Tatum also opened up on finding director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Gambler), saying “We finally found someone that I really do believe wants to make Gambit, it will be the second standalone character. And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there’s a really unique opportunity. Marvel’s done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it’s always good to figure how to change the form.”
Filming begins later this year for a October 7, 2016 theatrical release.
