Ben Falk at Yahoo! Movies caught up with director Bryan Singer, who recently opened up about the potential for a X-MEN and FANTASTIC FOUR crossover while doing promo for THE ROGUE CUT. Singer revealed that he’s had discussions with writer Simon Kinberg on how to merge the two properties. “Those ideas are in play,” he says. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.”

Just how will the two teams find their way together? “It deals with time,” he says. “That’s all I’m going to say.”

The genius of Reed Richards in FF will introduce concepts of alternate universes and traveling through time and space. Fans will get their first peek into how this works when the film hits theaters on August 7th. Though it’s not confirmed yet, the buzz is the X-Men actually exist in an alternate reality.

What major threat will bring the two teams together? We’ll have to wait and see. Of course, this all depends on the success of Josh Trank’s film and how it’s received by the audience.

“We’ll have to see how the films turn out,” affirms Singer. “To just say you’re going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that.”

Thanks to @FANT4STICS for the heads up!
