There’s a lot of negative criticism surrounding Josh Trank’s FANTASTIC FOUR, but there’s many positive reactions getting lost in the mix. The film hits theaters this Friday and viewers are passionately sounding off from advance screenings and early premieres. The general consensus seems to be that it’s an almost indie-like, slow burn, character sci-fi drama that takes itself very seriously and doesn’t fully payoff from its initial buildup. This doesn’t really sound like a typical comic book film, which is probably why it’s catching many people off guard. Does that make it a truly terrible film on its own? That’s for you to decide. Until then, see what positive things people are saying on Twitter.
#FantasticFour was pretty good. Dodgy in a few parts but nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Doesn't deserve all the hate. Craziness.

There's a lot of potential with this #FantasticFour. Sad they might not get to improve on things in a sequel. Received WAY too much hate.
— X-MenFilms.com (@XMenFilms) August 7, 2015
#FantasticFour is nowhere nearly as bad as the Internet buzz states. First 2/3 of it is pretty decent, it's the ending that falls apart.

Regarding the #FantasticFour's cast, they were on point. Definitely the best thing about the film. The sequel needs to blow us away!
— Jamie Moriarty (@JamieMoriarty13) August 8, 2015
The new #FantasticFour movie isn't the height of cinematic brilliance, but it's still a good movie, and I'd definitely recommend it.
— Grey Beatty (@touchofgrey37) August 8, 2015
#FantasticFour wasn't as bad as the critics made it seems. Not a masterpiece but not complete trash.
— Le King (@ZaynDiamonds) August 8, 2015
@tjxboxlive17 @20thcenturyfox I liked a lot. have problems, yes, but still a nice character-driven sci-fi film and best F4 movie made.
— DCU Movie Page (@dcumoviepage) August 8, 2015
#FantasticFour starts of slow but I liked it. I enjoyed darker/serious tone, esp compared to the previous #FF4 movies. #InsanityCheck

In a surprising twist #FantasticFour was a pretty decent movie, nowhere near as awful as everyone was making it out to be.

@XMenFilms It's gonna bomb at the box office but it will do well enough where they won't lose much. I enjoyed it but the hate is…

@XMenFilms ..Disgusting. It wasn't bad.

I liked FF. If I wasn't tuned into Internet/critics, I'd expect that film to be a success. Not the greatest or the worst, just a solid film.

Packed 1pm @ODEONCinemas Holloway screening of @FantasticFourUK – kids ate it up, hooted and applauded at the end. Flame on! #FantasticFour
— David Hughes (@DavidHughesTwit) August 6, 2015
#FantasticFour was surprisingly dark 👍🏻 its more Nolan than MCU, and that's a good thing. Overall was a solid first entry 😎👍🏻
— J.J. Cuevas (@CaptainCuevas) August 6, 2015
#FantasticFour was a mess BUT all of the obvious Trank parts of the film we're interesting. His full vision could have been something cool
— Jim Kentfield (@JimKentfield) August 8, 2015

Just left a screening of Fantastic Four. So good!!!!!
— Jesica Ahlberg (@JesicaAhlberg) August 6, 2015
Just got out of the fantastic four screening and the film was okay, but you could tell it was meant as am 'opener' to a series
— Anna (@xcoveredingoldx) August 5, 2015
For those utterly unfamiliar with the #FantasticFour comics, the film is an interesting and minimalistic scifi drama with an indie feel.
— Mika Tolvanen (@mikafilm) August 5, 2015
@BlokeBusters Btw, #FantasticFour is actually quite good. Having seen the movie twice now, it brings about the best in the property

— Patrick J. McKenna (@21Hanks) August 5, 2015
It ain't blockbuster but it's interesting… And more human, which is good #film #FantasticFour
— Karen Krizanovich (@Krizanovich) August 5, 2015
I thought #FantasticFour was good fun.
— Ned Hartley (@NedHartley) August 5, 2015
Best bits of #FantasticFour were taken almost directly from @mrmarkmillar and @BRIANMBENDIS's Ultimate Fantastic Four run. Almost word4word
— Ned Hartley (@NedHartley) August 5, 2015
Go see @FantasticFour people. Saw an early screening in LA and I loved it. So so good! Off to set. Early call times so much fun 💕😋
— Ashley Nicole (@RealAshleyMac) August 5, 2015
Now a friend of mine who was at a #FantasticFour advanced screening is telling me she loved it.
I.e, fuck critics.
— LegolasQuinn (@LegolasQuinn) August 5, 2015
Advance screening of #FantasticFour yesterday! SO different from the formulaic Marvel film convention. Refreshingly character driven. #film
— Premdeep Grewal (@Prem_Fresh) August 5, 2015
Just seen #FantasticFour – wow, did i get the wrong impression prior to screening. Its GREAT. Best comic book movie since Winter Soldier.
— Phileas Skunk (@PhileasSkunk) August 5, 2015
Went to an advanced screening of #FantasticFour – enjoyed the reboot! Especially love seeing more @Miles_Teller in films, dude is boss!
— Blade Joseph Shaw (@BladeJS88) August 5, 2015
Got to see a preview screening of @FantasticFour yesterday and was truly fantastic, excuse the pun, one of the best films of the summer.
— Aidan Colquhoun (@Aidan1698) August 5, 2015
Went to the Fantastic Four screening today. As a summer blockbuster/comicbook film it's uneventful. As a slow scifi drama it's interesting.
— Mika Tolvanen (@mikafilm) August 5, 2015
@FantasticFour screening tonight. Intense. I was skeptical, but this version had so much depth, richness, action and connection. Must see!!!
— B'Tyli/Lisa W. (@BTyliskincare) August 5, 2015
Back from an advance screening of #FantasticFour… Different from recent Marvel films, but really good! Got to see the cast beforehand too!
— Kelsey (@tehkelsey) August 5, 2015
Ok..Fantastic Four..Caught an early screening and walked in expecting to hate it, but definitely didn't..That being said..it's not very good
— Imran P (@PetrovskiUno) August 4, 2015
#FantasticFour screening @cineworld was pretty good, definitely not what I was expecting and surprisingly dark. Great summer viewing!!
— G Tro (@GrahamTroman) August 4, 2015
New #marvel fantastic four film doesn't suck – in fact it is great you should go see it. Woo advanced screening!
— Chris (@Southern_Trax) August 4, 2015
@FantasticFour damn good film, but no hidden ending during credits? WTF! Preview screening only I hope! #FantasticFour
— Draogon (@ZeRoTolerance86) August 4, 2015
#FantasticFour was good. Bit slow but good effort 👍
— Sean Shears © (@SeanShears) August 4, 2015
So #FantasticFour was pretty much perfectly written & acted. I felt such genuine empathy for the characters… #UnlimitedScreening
— The deliquescent (@EvolaVonValor) August 4, 2015
#FantasticFour Long build up to a swift finale but okay. Doom was good all be it short on screen time. No marvel teaser at end. Sad faces
— Lone-ish Wolf (@davidf598) August 4, 2015
Just watched #FantasticFour. Better than I'd hoped, easily the best of all the efforts, but a ropey last act and not a lot of superheroics
— Christian Blanc (@SonOfMrBlanc) August 4, 2015
#FantasticFour felt less like a superhero movie and more like an update of a Michael Crichton 'science gone mad!' story.
— Rgirvan (@RobGirvan) August 4, 2015
Enjoyed #FantasticFour. Could've done with more Doom, but assume being saved for the sequel. Took a while to get going, but a solid reboot
— NikNik (@NikNik_88) August 4, 2015
Screw the critics! Talk about being too hard in a 1hr33 mins film that wasn’t even that bad. It was good for the first 62 minutes.. then they are gonna shred the film for a not so good last 30 minutes. I’ve seen lots of bad films that didn’t even a strong half and gets a higher RT rating than 12%…. this is quite embarrassing for the film, the cast and crew of the film. This could shy away potential ticket buyers which could potentially hurt its box-office performance.
However, I hope it makes enough money that Fox gives the cast a second chance. Bring those 4 back, hire a skilled director, a good writer (not Kinberg again), introduce a villain that we haven’t seen in a film before, we don’t need Doom anymore since we already saw trice in a movie… then pull a First Class or The Wolverine.
How is Simon Kinberg even attached to these anymore? He Hurt with x3 and origins then hired same guy to fix it with DOFP………..
Idk, Kinberg was co-writer of X3 and Fantastic Four. Not sure if he’s to blame or the other writers. He didn’t write Origins.
Read the trade papers now, You morons. The movie has tanked so bad that even the producers have backed away from talking about an FF/X-Men Crossover. I laugh in your brainless faces.
Just showing the positive reactions when everyone is focusing on the bad. Not making any claims it’s a success.
Nice try you fools.
But the film was flop. There will be no more. FILM RIGHTS SHOULD GO BACK TO MARVEL.
