The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider tweeted that Channing Tatum is courting ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ director Doug Liman to helm 20th Century Fox’s GAMBIT spin-off, which is looking to start filming this March in New Orleans.
Production ran into trouble when original director Rupert Wyatt bowed out after major script changes required the shooting schedule to be pushed back and extended. There’s no word if Liman is even interested, but producers are hoping to sign someone very soon as 20th Century Fox is eager to (somehow) keep their planned October 7, 2016 release date.
Josh Zetumer (RoboCop) penned the script, based on a treatment by Gambit co-creator Chris Claremont. Tatum is producing along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Reid Carolin.
True that Channing Tatum has been courting Doug Liman to direct GAMBIT. We'll see if he goes for it though…
