Jennifer Lawrence WILL be blue in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. At least, “a little bit.”

Some fans were left scratching their heads when “Mystique” actress Jennifer Lawrence appeared sans her blue makeup throughout most of the X-MEN: APOCALYPSE trailer. Besides one interesting-looking scene, it seems Raven is deciding to stay in her “normal looking” form for much of the film. But fans can be rest assured that the actress at least appear in-blue for more than one scene.

“I am blue in it, a little bit,” she confirmed to Cinema Blend when asked. “I put my foot down as much as I could,” she said, agreeing with the interviewer’s mention about the long makeup process. “[But] they were very, very nice to me.”

During FIRST CLASS, Lawrence had a bad reaction to the makeup, which left her body covered in rashes and blisters. The process was then changed during DAYS OF FUTURE PAST to include the use of a body suit, which dramatically cut down on her exposure to the paint.

There can also be a pretty valid explanation for why Mystique is not showing her true form. “She obviously needs to be in hiding somewhere,” said Lawrence last year about her character’s situation after being revealed to the masses in ‘Days of Future Past.’ In ‘Apocalypse,’ Mystique comes into contact with Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is her illegitimate son in the comics books. Whether this is explored fully on film remains to be seen, but might Raven be disguising herself so young Kurt Wagner doesn’t notice the similarities between himself and the shape-shifting mutant?
