DEADPOOL gets new IMAX one-sheet and video announcement!

Size matters! On the 9th day of #12DaysOfDeadpool, 20th Century Fox released a video announcement and impressive IMAX one-sheet for DEADPOOL. The poster artwork (and slightly alternate version) features Ryan Reynolds’ title character straddling the shoulders of Colossus while surrounded by the film’s supporting cast, which includes comic genius Stan Lee in a hilarious cameo.

Last month, Imax Corporation and 20th Century Fox announced a long term, multi-picture deal to bring the studios’ upcoming tentpoles to large premium screens across the world.

“We are very happy to announce this new global affiliation with Imax and look forward to offering our audiences another choice in their viewing of our movies,” said Paul Hanneman, president of worldwide marketing and distribution, and Chris Aronson, president of domestic theatrical distribution. “We look forward to working with our partners in what is sure to be an exciting and rewarding future.”

Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE isn’t involved in the deal, which also includes Fox’s ‘Independence Day Resurgence’ and ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure.’ This is due to Disney releasing ‘Alice: Through the Looking Glass” in Imax on the same day.

“We are extremely pleased to enter into this strategic alliance with Fox, with whom we have experienced some of our greatest successes,” said Imax CEO Richard L. Gelfond. “Given their exciting upcoming slate, the agreement makes strategic sense for both companies. We are also excited to be able to release blockbusters together in China, which we think could help Imax and Fox expand our footprint in that market jointly.”

Directed by Tim Miller and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Ed Skrein as the villainous Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and T.J. Miller as Weasel.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, ‘Deadpool’ tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
