DEADPOOL celebrates Australia Day; film on track to earn big bucks at box office.

Vancouver’s own DEADPOOL star Ryan Reynolds recorded a special video message in honor of Australia Day, celebrating and honoring their proud heritage and “its predilection for blackout drinking and unrelenting condescension towards New Zealand.” His words, not mine.

On Aussie export Hugh Jackman, “the merc” had kind words for him, though he wished he never made that film back in 2009. “He’s a delightful guy, he really is, true legend. But the [Wolverine] movie, that was a career low for me. You understand.”

Luckily, director Tim Miller’s upcoming February 12th reboot should rectify that in both fan acclaim and box office numbers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is tracking to debut anywhere between $55-$60 million at the box office! That is, if early estimates are to be believed.

“Those with access to prerelease services say the scores are strong for Deadpool among both males and females (as of now, it is the first choice among females). One service even has Deadpool crossing $60 million, and that’s before Fox makes its major marketing push.”

Considering 20th Century Fox made this film on a relatively low budget, Reynolds may find himself suiting up again in the red and black costume sooner rather than later.
