Rumor: Is an Oscar nominee directing GAMBIT? According to the IMDB, yes.

Did a director reveal for GAMBIT just come to us via the IMDB? The verdict is still out at this point, as the site isn’t always 100% accurate, but Oscar nominated Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption) is listed there as helming Channing Tatum’s developing solo spin-off film. It also lists him as working on the script, which Reid Carolin and Joshua Zetumer tackled based off a story treatment from Gambit co-creator Chris Claremont.

Previous directors working on the project included Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman, who allegedly left over either scheduling issues or creative differences.

Production is expected to begin next year in New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana. 20th Century Fox has potential dates for the release, including March 2, November 2 and June 29 of 2018 and February 14, 2019.
