Celebrating The Continuing Legacy Of X-Men Films • Covering Our Most-Anticipated Genre Film And TV Projects

Michael Fassbender doesn’t know anything (yet) about future plans for Magneto.

More than a week ago, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE star Michael Fassbender told press (during promo for Assassins Creed) that he would play Magneto again in another film and that he loves playing the character. But was anything actually set in stone? It doesn’t appear so, as the actor recently told The Empire Film Podcast that he doesn’t know what his status is with the franchise.

“I don’t know to be honest,” he said. “I haven’t made any sort of decision on it because I have no idea what’s happening next with the franchise to be honest.”

It’s currently unknown what will happen with the main X-MEN characters and team. All we know is that Simon Kinberg is working on the script, allegedly with Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence in mind, though that’s really just a rumor. 20th Century Fox seems to be putting focus on bringing THE NEW MUTANTS into the X-Men world and making two sequels for DEADPOOL, along with an X-FORCE spin-off and (hopefully) GAMBIT.

It will probably be a while before we hear anything concrete. Actors are usually the last to know in this whole movie-making process.
