Actress Chara Victoria Gannett revealed that her daughter, actress Colbi Gannett (Camping Trip), is portraying a younger version of Anya Taylor-Joy’s Magik character in director Josh Boone’s THE NEW MUTANTS.
“FINALLY! The trailer has dropped and I can share!!!! X-Men: The New Mutants. Colbi was cast as young Magik in the 20th Fox Century, Marvel Film X-Men,” she wrote.
In the teaser, we see a flashback origin of young Illyana Rasputin in bed holding a stuffed animal that looks like Lockheed. It’s speculated that the X-Men’s favorite dragon will come to life (in some form), as he was shown to be a “real” creature in a previously leaked animatic.
We also know that Magik will keep her Russian roots, as a video shows Gannett speaking the language.
“The New Mutants” arrives in theaters on April 13, 2018.
