Variety reveals that Emmy-nominated actress Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) is in talks to join the cast of director Gore Verbinski’s GAMBIT in an unspecified lead role.
While it hasn’t been revealed who the actress will be playing, it’s likely she’ll portray Bella Donna Boudreaux. The character was originally appeared in earlier iterations of the film’s screenplay. In the comics, the Bella Donna is a childhood friend of Gambit, who comes from a rival guild. In hopes to join the guilds of thieves and assassins, respectively, their parents arrange for them to be married.
Another character option could possibly be a rebooted version of Anna Paquin’s Rogue, but the chances of that casting seem very slim of actually happening.
The X-Men solo film will star Channing Tatum as the popular Cajun mutant Remy LeBeau, who has the ability to manipulate kinetic energy. The role was previously portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in the critically-panned “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” in 2009.
“Gambit” begins filming early next year for a February 14, 2019 theatrical release.
