Wolverine is back! But how? Speaking with SiriusXM, longtime Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman dropped a tidbit about how DEADPOOL 3 (working name: The Untitled Deadpool and Wolverine Film) will bring the legendary mutant back without messing with the events of LOGAN.
“I just put it aside and I was like, ‘No, no I’m done.’ Then we made ‘Logan’ and I was super happy with it. But all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines, now we can go back, because, you know, it’s science. So I don’t have to screw with the ‘Logan’ timeline, which was important to me, and I think probably to the fans too.”
Indeed!
At the end of DEADPOOL 2, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) was shown changing history with Cable’s (Josh Brolin) time travel device. This is sure to cause an incursion and mess with timelines. Chances are the events will connect themselves, and Wade will find himself in another universe entirely. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe exploring variants and the multiverse overall, there’s a good chance we’ll be meeting a variant of Wolverine. Maybe from Earth-838, as seen with Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Deadpool 3 films in late Spring/early Summer for a November 8, 2023 theatrical release.
