Patrick Stewart told to “standby” for another potential return as Professor X.

With Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine for DEADPOOL 3, many wonder if this means the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor X once again. “I’ve been told to standby,” he told ComicBook while promoting his final season of Picard on Paramount+. “I know nothing more than that, honest.” Stewart previously appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a Charles Xavier variant from Earth-838.

A few major X-Men characters are rumored to appear in DP3, with a greater number of them being planned for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars mega event in 2026. That film will see the multiverse collide, which will have major ramifications for the MCU moving forward.

Deadpool 3 begins filming late Spring/early Summer with director Shawn Levy for a November 8, 2024 theatrical release.
