DEADPOOL 3 reportedly begins filming, as Rob Liefeld teases a Wolverine-centric plot.

DEADPOOL 3 reportedly started production at Pinewood Studios in London, England, UK yesterday. We’re putting emphasis on “reportedly,” because it hasn’t been announced through any official channels or trades. Last February, the Midgard Times reported that principal photography was scheduled to commence Monday, May 22 through October. Colossus voice actor Stefan Kapičić also shared a post yesterday re: filming on his Instagram story.

Movie insider Grace Randolph commented “Really? I thought it started filming June 1st, is what I heard,” during a livestream (58:08 mark), so this could be the case.

There’s a WGA writers strike currently happening in Hollywood, along with potential for a future actors strike, so the screenplay by director Shawn Levy, star Ryan Reynolds, and writers Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells is considered locked. This means no big changes can be made to the script during said strike, although producers (who aren’t writers) have limited power to make minor edits. This puts the film in familiar territory with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which filmed during the strike of 2007-08.

Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld teased the film’s plot, tweeting “Also, just FYI – this is WAY more of a Wolverine movie.” Could the Weapon X program, Laura/X23 (Dafne Keen), and ultimately the X-Men be involved? We’ll have to wait and see on that!

Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 8, 2024 with a cast that includes Reynolds as the lead, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and a host of many others.
