the SUPER🦸: SUPERMAN: LEGACY expands cast with four DC superheroes.

DC Comics

the SUPER🦸 — Variety reports that director/writer James Gunn has added three well-known DC characters to his SUPERMAN: LEGACY roster, which stars David Corenswet (Hollywood) as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane. Actors Nathan Fillion (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), and Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) have been cast as Guy Gardner – Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific, respectively.

Update: According to The Hollywood Reorter, actor Anthony Carrigan (Gotham, Barry) has been cast as Metamorpho.

It’s obvious Gunn will hit the ground running with an existing DC Universe, as we meet the last son of Krypton. In fact, Gunn went to Threads to clarify the inclusion of these characters: “We’re entering a world where superheroes exist and have existed for quite a while. They’re a part of one side of his world just like Lois and Jimmy are a part of another.”

“I’ve never used one movie to set up another movie,” he responded to another fan. “The characters are there because they help to tell Superman’s story better, not so we can set up separate projects in the franchise. Superman and Lois are the very clear protagonists.”

The film is expected to focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way,” said co-chairperson and CEO Peter Safran earlier this year during a press event. “He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

Superman: Legacy flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
