Empire Magazine spoke with Emma Corrin, who’s portraying a villain in Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL 3 movie. “I feel really eXcited to play a villain,” they said. “I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.” According to the trade, Corren was cast after director Shawn Levy saw them on stage in a production of Virginia Woolfโ€™s Orlando last year โ€“ though the reason for the meeting was kept tightly under wraps. โ€œIโ€™d heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldnโ€™t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch,โ€ they recalled. โ€œSo I met him being like, โ€˜I donโ€™t know what this is about.โ€™โ€

โ€œHands up, Iโ€™m not a Marvel person,โ€ Corrin revealed. โ€œIโ€™ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, โ€˜Look, youโ€™re gonna have to debrief me into this.โ€™ Itโ€™s such an intricate world. Thereโ€™s so much to it, itโ€™s an absolute mind-fuck. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this personโ€™s deadโ€ฆ itโ€™s amazing.โ€

โ€œI really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people,โ€ they continue. โ€œItโ€™s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that itโ€™s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.โ€

Production on Deadpool 3 at Pinewood Studios in England is currently on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. The film is scheduled for release on May 3, 2024, although it’s eXpected to be pushed back depending on the length of said strike.
