Iman Vellani Talks X-Men In The MCU And Ms. Marvel’s Mutant Power

THE MARVELS star Iman Vellani spoke with New Rockstars about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, mutants, and X-Men theories. She even revealed that she hasn’t watched director Simon Kinberg’s final X-Men film: “I still refuse to watch DARK PHOENIX.”

SPOILERS FROM THE MARVELS BELOW!

An even more comic accurate take of Dr. Henry McCoy, the Beast appeared during THE MARVELS end credits scene, along with Binary and Monica Rambeau. “They were flexing on us with that CG,” said Vellani on the blue furball. “I was very impressed when I saw the little teeth.” She thinks Patrick Stewart is the Professor X of that universe, “given Beast’s age and he’s already in Beastie-mode, so I think Stewart. So hopefully Ian McKellen is somewhere in there too, and then Halle Berry pops up,” she continued on her dream appearances. “I think it’d be a jumpscare if we get Anna Paquin [as Rogue, the character who put Captain Marvel into a coma] too.”

As Ms. Marvel, Vellani is portraying one of the MCU’s first mutants alongside Professor X, Namor, and the host of others appearing in DEADPOOL 3. That said, she revealed an interesting bit about her character’s mutant gifts, suggesting she doesn’t need the arm bangles to use her powers.

“I don’t think her powers come from the bangle at all, like, I think she just wears them as an accessory now. I think they were just the key and the door’s kept open. So she just now has all this access to the Noor and the way I justified it is, her mutant power is the ability to wield the Noor and to shape it,” she said of her head canon for Kamala Kahn.
