Rewatch: X-Men: The Animated Series – Have Yourself A Morlock Little X-Mas 🎄

Merry X-Mas and Happy Holidays!

In honor of the Holiday season, I set aside some time to rewatch “Have Yourself a Morlock Little X-Mas,” the 17th episode from season four of X-Men: The Animated Series.

This article summarizes the episode and contains specific details.

It opens with Jubilee, Rogue, and Cyclops singing Deck the Halls while decorating the tree. Cyclops is an absolutely terrible, off-key singer! Wolverine is not participating, sitting in the corner, and being his usual Scrooge-y self. Meanwhile in the kitchen, Louisiana-bred Gambit heavily criticizes a ticked-off Jean Grey about her lack of seasoning in her cooking.

Jubilee, Storm and Wolverine then go an excursion to Christmas shop and ice skate, before running into a couple of Morlocks who are trying to save their fellow dweller, Leech.

Storm takes charge and decides to aid the Morlocks, prompting Wolverine to give him a blood transfusion. Thing is, besides being an X-Man, Storm is actually their leader at that point in time. She won the title by combat with Callisto, who continues to have conflict with her, because she hasn’t been present as leader.

It’s apparent Storm knew she was lacking as a leader, as she ends up relinquishing her duties to Callisto.

The episode teaches a lesson for Jubilee (and us, the audience), that gifts and expensive things aren’t important to happiness when you’re surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. This was shown when she made a kind gesture by giving her gifts to a now-revived Leech, and young Morlock girl she bonded with.

The 21 minute episode has heart, and is a welcome Holiday classic that can sit next to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindder stop-motion, Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Die Hard. 🤪

X-Men: The Animated Series is now streaming on Disney+
