Who watches the Watchmen?

Warner Bros. Entertainment has released a full redband trailer for their Watchmen animated adaption. This expansive and faithful take on one of DC’s most legendary storylines arrives in two parts: Chapter 1 releases digitally on August 13, with Chapter 2 expected in 2025.

In an alternate world, the murder of a government sponsored superhero draws his outlawed colleagues out of retirement, into a mystery that threatens their lives and the world itself.

Created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, Watchmen takes place in an alternate 1985 America where superheroes are part of everyday life. The story begins with the murder of a retired superhero, and his former teammates must investigate. The conspiracy they uncover involves a plot to kill and discredit all superheroes, past and present, and puts humanity in grave danger. As the investigation unfolds, the teammates’ secret traumas and twisted psychologies become entangled, and the line between heroes and villains is called into question.
