As Deadpool & Wolverine heads into its 2nd weekend in theaters, director Shawn Levy has shared behind the scene photos from the Marvel Studios production.
Spoiler Warning for the final image at the bottom of this article.
The first, a camera test of actor Emma Corrin as the villainous Cassandra Nova. “We never had a second choice to play Cassandra Nova,” wrote Levy in a social media post. “From our very first camera test (first 2 pics) we knew Emma Corrin was the One.”
Levy shared new stills and BTS looks at Paradox, as portrayed by Matthew Macfadyen.
As you watch D&W you’ll notice the use of practical sets without overly relying on green screen and VFX. Levy shared a look at the impressive TVA (Time Varian Authority) set. “…all built practically, no green screen or CGI, and brilliantly conceived by our Production Designer, Ray Chan,” said Levy. “Ray was a beacon of warmth, enthusiasm and tenacity, and he passed away shortly before the release of this movie. If you stuck around through the End Credits, you know that our movie is dedicated to him, and while we will miss him forever, his visionary work on this and many other films will be with us, always.”
The opening of the film was a sight to see, and we can’t help but wonder how Logan director James Mangold felt about it. This tongue in cheek photo features Levy with Ryan Reynolds and Wolverine’s corpse. Oh, Deadpool…
