Variety reports that Marvel Studios will submit Deadpool & Wolverine for consideration at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critics Choice and the Academy Awards. It’s reported they’ll focus on comedy categories for star Ryan Reynolds, with Hugh Jackman getting the push for supporting actor across all the major shows.
Golden Globes’ new-ish Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category seems like a guaranteed candidate, having amassed over $1.3 billion at the global box office. Last year’s prize went to Warner Bros’ Barbie.
The first Deadpool film received two GG nominations: Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor for Reynolds. It also was recognized by all the major Hollywood guilds.
Both Reynolds & Jackman are no strangers to the awards circuit; Reynolds has an Emmy and Jackman has a Golden Globe win and Oscar nomination.
