DC Studios co-head James Gunn has shared the first official look at Lanterns, a new DCU series coming to Max streaming service (likely) next year.
“Excited that Lanterns is now in production,” wrote Gunn. “DC Studios’ new show for HBO and Max, from creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, & Tom King, starring Kyle Chandler & Aaron Pierre, is something really special.”
The series follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Other cast include Kelly Macdonald, Poorna Jagannathan, Garret Dillahunt, and Ulrich Thomsen as the villainous Sinestro.
Nathan Fillion will portray Guy Gardner/Green Lantern in this year’s Superman film, and Gunn has previously confirmed an appearance from him in the series.
