With a new X-Men movie eXpected to be with us in 2027 or 2028, wishlists are being formed for who will portray Marvel’s next iteration of uncanny mutants. One popular character awaiting casting is Storm, the Goddess of Thunder. Appearing on the Jennifer Hudson Show, singer/actor SZA threw her hat in the ring for the highly-coveted role being sought out by many.
“You know how Storm has an origin story?” she said. “She comes from this whole other place. It’s like the jungle. I think that would be so gnarly if I could be Storm’s origin story.”
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has previously said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will slowly introduce mutants by using their upcoming slate of films, before breaking out into their own proper series. These films potentially include Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Secret Wars.
SZA can currently be seen in the film One of Them Days, now playing in theaters.
