X-Men Films And Superhero Entertainment News — Trailers, Industry Coverage, Reviews, Original Comics: SUPER (2025-), Mutant Fandom And More

The casting news for Avengers: Doomsday had everyone buzzing, especially after the announcement that several X-Men veterans like Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen will be reprising their iconic roles as Nightcrawler, Mystique, Cyclops, Professor X and Magneto, respectively. But one notable name was missing from that lineup: Halle Berry. Ac

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Alan Cumming was asked directly whether Berry might also be returning. His response only added fuel to the fire:

“Well, maybe she does. I don’t […] but honestly, I’m the last person to ask.”

The coy answer has sent speculation into overdrive. While Cumming didn’t confirm Berry’s involvement, his hesitation and playful deflection suggests there could be more surprises in store.

Berry, of course, played the weather-controlling mutant Storm across four X-Men films, becoming one of the franchise’s most recognizable figures. Her absence from the initial announcement left many fans wondering whether Marvel Studios was holding back a major reveal for a later date.

With Avengers: Doomsday positioned as one of the most ambitious crossover events in the MCU’s history, the return of Berry’s Storm would mark a monumental moment for longtime X-Men fans. Whether Cumming’s comment was genuine uncertainty or a deliberate tease, the speculation won’t be quieting down anytime soon.

For now, Berry’s potential role remains unconfirmed along with Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey and Anna Paquin’s Rogue, but if Marvel’s track record has shown us anything, it’s that surprises are part of the game. We also can’t forget that Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) is a thing.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
