Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have dropped a new featurette for Mortal Kombat II, the high-stakes sequel to the 2021 reboot, and it features a small dose of fresh footage and behind-the-scenes action. The video gives us a taste of the brutal spectacle to come, teasing intense fight sequences and offering a glimpse at some of the returning champions, now joined by none other than Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) himself. This next chapter sees Earthrealm’s fiercest defenders facing off in a no-holds-barred battle against the looming threat of Shao Kahn, whose dark rule could destroy their world.

In addition to Urban, the ensemble cast includes Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada returning as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion.

Director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm, working from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the iconic video game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The behind-the-scenes footage hints at an ambitious scale, with practical effects, brutal choreography, and a clear love for the source material.

Mortal Kombat II set to hit theaters on May 15, 2026. It has also just been announced at New York Comic Con that Mortal Kombat III is in active development at Warner Bros.
