X-Men Films And Superhero Entertainment News — Trailers, Industry Coverage, Reviews, Original Comics: SUPER (2025-), Mutant Fandom And More

Film pundit Kristian Harloff may have dropped some major hints about Marvel Studios’ plans for the X-Men moving forward. During a recent discussion with John Rocha (around the 2:02:20 mark in their video), Harloff shared several intriguing scoops.

One of the biggest takeaways was the potential focus on Cyclops and the Summers family. Harloff mentioned that Marvel may finally explore Scott Summers’ lineage in depth, including his father Corsair, the spacefaring leader of the Starjammers (think Guardians of the Galaxy), as well as his mutant brother Havok, and his powerful children, Cable and Rachel Summers.

This would mark a major shift from previous X-Men films, which often centered on Wolverine. With Hugh Jackman potentially continuing his run as Logan beyond Secret Wars, Marvel Studios might be taking this opportunity to let Cyclops step into a leadership role closer to his comic book counterpart.

Harloff also addressed rumors that Patrick Stewart may be retiring from acting following his upcoming appearance as Professor Charles Xavier in the next Avengers films. If true, it would be a fitting time for Marvel to give Stewart’s version of the character a heartfelt send-off, possibly tying into the Multiverse events that will reshape the cinematic landscape.

Another key point from Harloff’s discussion was the mention of three worlds colliding to create Battleworld, which is a concept drawn from Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars storyline.

In the comics, Battleworld is a patchwork planet created when multiple realities collapse and merge into one. Heroes and villains from across the multiverse are forced to coexist (and often clash) within this fractured world.

If Marvel Studios follows that approach, we could see the main MCU, the Fantastic Four universe, and the X-Men universe all converging into one shared reality, setting the stage for the future of the franchise after Avengers: Secret Wars.

While none of this has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, Harloff’s comments add fuel to growing speculation about how the studio plans to integrate mutants into the MCU. A Summers family focus, a respectful farewell to Professor X, and a universe-shattering Battleworld crossover could make for one of the most ambitious chapters yet in Marvel’s storytelling.
