With the first two issues of SUPER (2025) out now, I’ve seen some questions about our lead heroes — mainly, what are they? It’s covered briefly in the first chapter, but here’s the definitive answer on Super, Rebecca 2, and Xing Xi.
Super is a fully biological being. Without giving too much away about his backstory — that’ll come later — he was basically grown in a lab and stands as a major scientific achievement. His origin is fascinating, and I’m looking forward to exploring it more over time.
Rebecca 2 is a cyborg. Her head’s biological — with a few enhancements — while the rest of her body is completely robotic. She still has her human brain and stays alive thanks to two artificial hearts designed by Project: Super. Her head can even detach from her body for short periods when she’s using her armor to protect and empower others.
Xing Xi is an android with an evolving human consciousness. As shown in Issue #1, he was an older man when he passed away. As part of Project: Super, his memories were transferred into a fully robotic body. Although he looks like a child, he’s mentally older than Super and Rebecca combined.
