The Odyssey

Universal Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for The Odyssey, the latest epic from visionary filmmaker Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer, Interstellar, The Dark Knight). A globe-spanning mythic action spectacle filmed with groundbreaking new IMAX technology, the movie brings Homer’s timeless saga to IMAX screens for the very first time. The Odyssey sails into theaters on July 17, 2026, starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o, alongside Zendaya and Charlize Theron.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

The third installment in James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar franchise delivered a strong, if somewhat tempered, performance at the box office during its opening weekend. Domestically, the film grossed over $89 million, topping the domestic box office but falling short of the debut figures for Avatar: The Way of Water in 2022, which opened to about $134 million domestically.

Globally, Avatar: Fire and Ash earned over an estimated $347 million over its first weekend, with around $258 million coming from international markets. This global total makes it one of the highest worldwide openings of 2025, second only to Zootopia 2 in annual studio releases.

While the debut doesn’t match the franchise’s previous peaks (the 2022 sequel opened to about $442 million worldwide), the strong international turnout, particularly in major markets like China, underscores the enduring global appeal of the Avatar universe.

Avengers: Doomsday

Following the first Avengers: Doomsday teaser for the Russo Bros upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster, a second preview has been confirmed to play in theaters later this week with Avatar: Fire and Ash. This teaser will feature [redacted] and [redacted].

1-2 more previews are expected in the following weeks.

Man of Tomorrow

James Gunn has revealed a bold and unexpected casting choice for Man of Tomorrow, naming German actor Lars Eidinger as the DC Universe’s new Brainiac. Rather than opting for a traditional blockbuster star, Gunn selected Eidinger after an extensive search, emphasizing the actor’s intensity and intellectual edge as key reasons for the decision.

Brainiac’s arrival signals a major escalation in scope for the film’s story. Long regarded in DC lore as a cold, calculating entity obsessed with knowledge and control, the character presents a threat so severe that it reportedly pushes Superman into an uneasy partnership with Lex Luthor. This dynamic promises a fresh take on familiar rivalries while finally giving Brainiac a central role in a live-action Superman film.

The film is slated to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, positioning it as the next key chapter in Gunn’s broader vision for the revamped DC Universe. Production is expected to ramp up in 2026.
