XMF/the SUPER

X-Men Films And Superhero Entertainment News — Trailers, Industry Coverage, Reviews, Original Comics: SUPER (2025-), Mutant Fandom And More

The lights dim at your local theater, and just before the ocean-blue glow of Avatar: Fire and Ash fills the screen, Marvel Studios drops the Avengers: Doomsday teaser! Suddenly, it’s the X-Men’s world we’re stepping into.

What makes the teaser (dropping online this Tuesday) feel unmistakably X-Men isn’t just the imagery, it’s the mood. There’s a sense that these characters have been here a long time, and have gone through many eXperiences. It’s classic X-Men energy, with mutants as a mirror to society’s fears rather than its fantasies.

The implication is clear: whatever Doomsday brings, it’s big enough to potentially force the Avengers and mutants onto the same board. Not as allies yet, but not as enemies either. Just inevitabilities colliding.

Pairing these teasers (three so far, fourth on the way) with a massive theatrical event like Avatar makes sense. Both are about worlds changing, about confronting forces that can’t fully be controled. And by keeping the X-Men introduction atmospheric rather than explicit, Marvel preserves the sense of awe that made the original mutant stories resonate in the first place.

If this teaser is any indication, Avengers: Doomsday won’t just be another crossover. It’ll be a reckoning, one that finally opens the door for mutants to step out of the shadows and into the MCU’s future.

And judging by the stunned silence (and immediate whispers) it leaves behind, audiences are more than ready to welcome them back!

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
