DC Studios has just given us an even better look at Jason Momoa’s take on Lobo in the upcoming superhero blockbuster Supergirl. In addition to a newly released 30-second TV spot, the studio shared a quick behind-the-scenes featurette that shines a spotlight on Momoa preparing for what many are calling the role he was born to play, which is a stark contrast to his previous tenure in the DCEU franchise as Aquaman. The footage offers quick but striking glimpses of Momoa fully in character as the cigar-smoking, motorcycle-riding antihero.
Supergirl is set to soar into theaters on June 26, 2026, directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Dumb Money) from a script by Ana Nogueira. The film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, joined by a talented ensemble including Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and of course Momoa as Lobo, alongside returning DCU favorite David Corenswet as Superman in a smaller role, if not simply a cameo.
Building on the success of earlier DCU entry Superman, the film sends Supergirl on a revenge-fuelled quest through space that promises intense character building and unexpected team-ups, highlighted by Momoa’s gritty, larger-than-life Lobo. With marketing ramping up, Supergirl is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most anticipated blockbusters.
